As one of the leading inspection providers in Scotland and England, we use a fleet of aerial, underwater and ground based inspection methods.

Our aerial inspection work is carried out by the latest in state of the art UAVs. But what are UAVs?

UAV stands for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. A guided by (in our case) remote control aerial vehicle that carries sensors, recording equipment and other inspection equipment that we can use to conduct the wide range of services we offer in sectors ranging from transport to energy.

To fly, our drones our fitted with battery packs that can allow flight for around an hour at a time (depending on the load being carried). These batteries are easily interchangeable and we carry several battery packs with us to ensure that we can conduct all necessary aerial inspection work in our site visits.

what are UAV?

Our UAV are equipped with four rotors/propellers made from lightweight composites that help to reduce the overall weight of the UAV while increasing maneuverability. You can read more about propeller shape and design here.

As the name would suggest, UAV are unmanned yet we still control the vehicles using remote control systems on the ground equipped with flight controls and visual screens.

A standard drone inspection can be conducted by a single drone pilot.  For more delicate inspection jobs and more complicated survey sites, we will send additional personnel to operate the camera and video recording equipment.  For the likes of powerline inspection, we will send additional personnel to act as spotters for the drones to ensure that we do not hit anything during the drone survey.

Drone surveys are fast becoming the preferred method of visual inspection in the energy, infrastructure, utilities and transportation sectors.  The below video can help explain the direct benefits of using Balmore for your complete inspection, repair and maintenance needs.
