Gatwick Airport Officials Use Aerial Photography to Announce Busiest Ever Month

Most people armed with a camera at an airport are taking photos of the skies hoping to catch a glimpse of a specific aeroplane. These individuals are known as plane-spotters, and they will be tracking the movement of specific aircraft while also trying to take pictures for their records.

However, when photographs are taken of an airport from above, it tells an entirely different story. Not many people get the chance to capture the airport in the way that photographer Jeffrey Milstein did.

Celebrating a Busy Month

As part of an announcement by Gatwick Airport officials that highlighted the month of July 2016 as being the busiest ever, a collection of aerial photographs by Milstein were released. This series of photos show a variety of aircraft from above in fascinating detail. Along with pictures of aeroplanes waiting at specific gates for passengers to embark or disembark, the photos also captured various planes waiting to take their spot on the runway before taking off.

Gatwick Airport CEO Stewart Wingate announced the record number of passenger’s for July, and said, “Gatwick’s continued long-haul growth – up 23 per cent year-on-year – and strong cargo growth are the latest proof that competition in the London airports’ market is working.”

Capturing Images from Above

Gatwick Airport officials recognise the impact that aerial photography can make, and their inclusion of these stunning photos show exactly what can be achieved with the right equipment and the right photographer.
